Mena Alexandra Suvari Bio

Mena Alexandra Suvari was born in Newport, Rhode Island, to Candice (Thompson), an assistant nurse, and Ando Suvari psychiatrist. The father of her is Estonian as is her mother, whose name is Greek, Norwegian, German and both are Estonian. Mena was born in Rhode Island in an 1870-built home. She had aspirations to become an archaeologist and moved to Charleston, SC after attending an international modeling contest. This landed her an employment contract with Wilhelmina Models. Then, she relocated to Los Angeles as part of the company's children's theater division WeeWillys. That was the point at which her acting career began. Her film debut was made by director Gregg Araki in the cult-classic Nowhere (1997) that was later followed by the blockbuster American Pie (1999), where she performed her own singing, as well as the five-time Oscar-winning American Beauty (1999) directed by Sam Mendes, in which she was nominated for the BAFTA Award as Best Supporting Actress. People Weekly magazine titled an article on her "All-American Girl" (1999), and she was named as the most "patriotic" artist of 2000 by Entertainment Weekly magazine. In 2001, as part of the blockbuster series, she was added to the blockbuster franchise with American Pie 2 (2001) to the list and then a decade later , she released American Reunion (2012). Amy Heckerling's romantic comedy Loser (1999) was her first film to reunite with Jason Biggs. She then continued to show her versatility as a costar in John Leguizamo in Jonas Akerlund’s iconic cult classic Spun (2002), and Jennifer Aniston in Rob Reiner’s Rumor Has It (2006) and Tony Scott’s Domino (2005).
