Camila Cabello Bio

Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba, to Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. She was raised in the city of Cojimar in East Havana. Her father hails originally from Mexico City, and was born there. He moved to Cuba with his family. She has a younger sister called Sofia. In the early years of her life, Cabello and her family moved back and forth between Havana and Mexico City. Cabello relocated to Miami, Florida with her mother when she was just six years old. Her father was unable to obtain an immigration visa at the time , and Cabello joined the family 18 months later. Cabello was granted American citizenship in 2008. She was a student at Miami Palmetto High School but was dismissed in the school's 2012-2013 year while she was in the 9th grade to pursue her singing career. In the following year, she was awarded her diploma from high school. Camila Cabello was one of the contestants on The X Factor, a TV talent show that was filmed located in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a contestant with Aretha Franklin's track "Respect", but her audition was rejected by the program. After being eliminated in the "bootcamp" part of the competition in Miami, Florida, Cabello was brought back to the stage along with other contestants Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane to form the group of girls that would later become the group known as Fifth Harmony. They signed a contract with Syco Music, owned and directed by Simon Cowell, as well as Epic Records, L.A. Reid's record label.
